Comprehensive Eye Exams

Eye Health Evaluation
Did you know your eyes reveal a lot about your overall health? In your eye exam, Dr. Jones checks your eyes for proper vision, signs of disease, and overall eye health!

Your eyes provide early detection for many different diseases which can affect more than just your vision! That’s why Dr. Jones performs eye exams to look for signs and symptoms of many different diseases, not just eye diseases. Illnesses which may be discovered early through signs in your eyes include high blood pressure, diabetes, tumors, vascular irregularities and even heart disease.

It’s important to leave your comprehensive eye care to professionals. Did you know, the curve of your cornea determines how light reflects into your retina and the type of image produced? We measure your cornea, record your vision, and, after consulting, we recommend the best options available to you using the latest technology!

Examples of What Eye Exams Can Detect

We check for glaucoma. This is a disease where high levels of eye pressure develop and your eyes fail to regulate this pressure. Early detection of glaucoma is crucial to prevent the loss of sight.

We watch for cataracts – cataracts happen as we age and the lens of your eye becomes cloudy. When your prescription glasses no longer clear your vision, the only option is to remove the cataracts through surgery.

Do you know what binocular vision is? It’s when each eye forms its own image and transfers it the brain. The brain then fuses the two images into one. In order for this to happen your eyes must move and work together to produce the same size and shaped image. When this doesn’t happen it’s difficult to see clearly and usually causes strain and headaches. We do a series of tests to assess the ability of your eye muscles and make sure they are working as a team!

While so many bargain eye care providers are interested only in volume and getting the next patient in the chair, we put quality above all else. Your vision is in good hands with Sullivan Family Eye Care. Don’t forget, one of the best ways to protect your vision is with a yearly eye exam!

Cataract Management

Cataract surgery can be a very successful way to restore vision which was lost due to the development of cataracts. Cataracts are changes in the ocular lens of the eye, causing vision to be diminished. Some signs and symptoms of cataracts may be a constant foggy vision, being unable to read small letters even with appropriate reading glasses, and increased light sensitivity with increased difficulty driving at night due to glare. Cataracts are mostly an age-related condition and the older an individual, the higher the probability of cataracts beginning to develop.

At Sullivan Family Eye Care, we are happy to evaluate and give recommendations for cataract-related problems. There are several highly skilled cataract surgeons in the area who have performed thousands of procedures. We will gladly provide you with a recommendation for a skilled cataract surgeon. Dr. Jones will then see you for follow-up care after surgery to ensure your vision and healing are on track.

Please contact us if you have further questions regarding cataracts.
